I completed my B.Sc Agriculture (Honors) degree with second class upper division from University of Ruhuna and received my M.Sc. degrees from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka and University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. I obtained my PhD degree from Durham University, United Kingdom in 2011. I joined the academic staff of University of Ruhuna in 2000. Presently I am serving as the Deputy Senior Student Counselor of the Faculty of Agriculture and as the Co-ordinate for the Staff Development Committee/Faculty of Agriculture. I am serving as a reviewer for Journal of Acta Horticulturae, Journal of National Science Foundation, International Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies, Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Ruhuna Journal of Science and for the Annual Sessions of SLASS, Annual Academic Sessions of University of Ruhuna, International Symposium on Agriculture and Environment (ISAE), Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ruhuna, Ruhuna International Science and Technology Conference (RISTCON), Faculty of Science, University of Ruhuna.
