When plants encounter unfavorable changes in their environment, they alter the expression of genes encoding numerous proteins with protective functions (Changes in physiology). These enable them to withstand stress conditions such as frost, drought or attack by pathogenic organisms. My particular interest is in the control of gene expression and physiological differences in response to environmental stresses.
